Baking with acorns..
Those of you that play the Pixie Hollow game know we're sometimes asked to make Acorn cookies

Well out of curiosity I wondered if you really COULD bake with acorns..

and found that after following a few simple, yet time consuming steps you CAN!!

This page has a simple explanation on how to make Acorn flour

This page has a slightly longer way to make acorn flour. BUT it also has the acorn cookie recipe on it! As well as others.

Acorn Cookies
2 cups wheat flour1 cup white (or brown) sugar1 tsp. baking powder (or baking soda)
1 cup acorn grits1/2 cup shortening1 tsp. salt
Preparation: Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. In a large bowl, cream the shortening and the sugar. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients. Then blend in the acorn grits. Pinch off walnut sized pieces of dough and roll into balls. Place 1.5" apart on a lightly greased baking sheet.
Cook: Bake at 350°F for 10 to 12 minutes or until lightly colored. Transfer to a wire rack to cool.
Variation: Add 1 egg and/or 1 tsp. vanilla extract.

A New Preview for TB and the Lost Treasure
Hi! I was watching Animal Planet this afternoon and saw a new preview for TB and the Lost Treasure. I was wondering if anyone else saw this or if it's on youtube anywhere.

The preview just talks about the new movie coming out. Then it goes to a scene where Tink is talking to Blaze upon first meeting him. She says something like, "Hi little guy. What's your name? Blaze huh? You're a tough guy, aren't ya?" It was really cute! It made me want to see the movie ten times more! Also, I was wondering why DC isn't showing TB and the Lost treasure for one night like they did for Liroy and stitch before it was released.
Has anyone else seen this preview?
I'm just curious

A Real Tinkerbell-sort of
Before everyone out there in LJ land thinks I’ve watched TB too many times, fear not! There’s a reasonable explanation for the subject line. And here it is!

I was at the Disney store a week or so ago when it happened. I was just hanging around, looking at something on a nearby carousel when I heard someone say, “Are you ready, Tinkerbell?”

Not sure I had heard correctly, I whirled around and edged my way closer to the counter so I could hear well. Sure enough, I hadn’t heard wrong. The young woman and the little girl she had called ‘Tinkerbell had just approached the counter. As they approached, the woman coaxed the little girl to put her purchases upon the counter so she could pay for them. She called her ‘Tink this time and the little girl did so. I was about to ask her if her real name was Tinkerbell, when my friend, Dawn, who worked there, did it for me. “Is her real name, Tinkerbell?” She asked the woman. The woman smiled and shook her head. “No.” She replied. “Tinkerbell is her nickname. Her real name is Kaitlyn.” I grinned at this and proceeded to introduce myself. I showed ‘Tink my key chains and she loved them! Dawn and I talked for a little bit after ‘Tinkerbel land her mother left.

I had meant to write about this when I got back, but I guess I just forgot with everything else that’s been going on lately.

I thought the little girl’s nickname was really cute! And she also looked a lot like her as well! She had blonde hair and blue eyes and a really friendly smile!

How about the rest of you? Have you ever been in the DS or another store and found out someone else shared a name or nickname with a Disney character?

I just watched the new Tinkerbell movie for the first time today!
I just wanted to inform everyone that if you did not already know this; you can purchase the new movie in a gift set at Wal Mart and get a cute purple tote bag with Tinkerbell on it along with the DVD!
I got the gift set and the bag that comes along with it is not very well made. I's obviously made more for looking cute than for functionality, but it is in no doubt the perfect size for me to use!!!!

A discussion for you guys.
Well I figured, that we already have the discussion on the movie, and at the moment until i get the dvd theres not much i can say, but whatabout the music? What does everyone think of the score, and how it fits in with the movie? Also, do you think it was orchestrated wel, and aranged appropriately? This is definatly a music related question, but as i studied music for film and tv composition for the year, and im hoping to do more, i just wanted to get some ideas from you guys on it. i personally think this film is very well composed for. The music is very well put together, ad as both a lover of films, and as a music studant, i can't help but notice how the dynamics and music help the film along.
i look forward to reading what you guys think here.

Let's Talk about Tinkerbell!
Since nobody else has started a discussion for Tinkerbell's new movie, I've decided to start one. Any and all comments and opinions are welcome! So, what did everyone think of it? And as a precaution and courtesy for those who haven't seen the movie yet, please keep all spoilers and reviews behind a cut! Thanks! Other than that, let the discussing and fun begin!
Follow Tinkerbell’s Pixie Dust Trail!Collapse )

I think we all go through that every now and again. We either get caught up in being who someone else wants us to be or trying to please others, we don’t realize the only person we need to please is yourself. And as long as we’re true to ourselves and do what we love, we’ll find our place and everything else will come together.

Overall, the movie was fantastic and I could watch it over and over again and not get tired of it!

My Thoughts on the new Tinkerbell Movie
The new Tinkerbell movie is amazing beyond words! I LOVED it!

There aren't enough words I can use that would describe my love for this wonderful movie! Mae Whitman did a fantastic job! And I never liked Tinkerbell before this movie. I'm def going to buy it a few days after it comes out. I highly recommend the movie to everyone!

Apart from the humorous parts, I like the fact that the movie teaches a good lesson about being true to yourself and finding your place.

My favorite quote is from Tinkerbell herself. It's in the scene where she is trying to teach the birds to fly. The bird isn't cooperating too well and Tinkerbell is becoming frustrated.

Tinkerbell: "If I end up making acorn kettles for the rest of my life, I am holding you personally responsible!”

That line was so Katara and it was hilarious!

I loved how Tinkerbell tried so hard to fit in with the other fairies. But when she realized what she was meant to do, she put her heart and soul into doing her talent well.
